Helen in Gambia

Created by Emma 2 years ago
I got to know Helen fairly recently, over the last two years, in Gambia. Helen was a source of helpful information and friendly advice about Gambia matters, and was very helpful to me when I needed advice about something. She was always warm and open, and always ready with a friendly smile and generous with her time. She was much loved in Gambia, by locals and expats alike, and always treated everyone with warmth, respect and fairness...which is why Gambian people took to her so much. Helen was a lot of fun as well, ready to laugh and share a smile with anyone. She cared about Gambia a lot, and did a lot to help those in need when she came across them. I am very sad she has gone and will miss her a lot, but I'm happy that she was able to live life the way she wanted until the last. I'm sorry I can't be at Helen's funeral...but I will raise a glass in Gambia on the day, and think of her, in the place she loved so much. Sleep well Helen , thank you for being my friend xxx
